Pepper Russell passed away on December 10th. She was very sick and we had to make the decision to let her be at peace. She was a river dog and loved going on kayaking trips. She traveled everywhere with my family. Many people treated her like their very own dog and for that reason, I feel the need to post this. We will all miss her smiling face at the put-in's and take-outs. We will miss her disgusting tennis ball in our laps, and we will most of all miss her unconditional love. Please remember all the good times we had with Pepper. She is at peace now.

My Hair is...Purple?!

Soooo two weeks ago I got the itch to do something I had never had the guts to do before. I dyed my hair purple! I have been wanting to do this for years and finally, with nursing school right around the corner, I decided now was better than ever. Having never purchased purple before (I only have blue dye) I went to Ed Wyse in town to pic up some killer dye by Paintbox. Two gorgeous purple shades to complete the look. Little did I know that the "dark purple" the salesperson so enthusiastically described, was not so dark.

I bleached my hair in to a horrible blonde orange color. I cant believe it actually bleached my darn hair. In case you didnt know, my hair is almost black naturally so I was suprised and actually scared when I had rinsed out the bleach. Josh just about jumped out of his chair when I showed him the aftermath. "Dont worry, it's not staying this way! Now Im adding the purple" I said. Good lord, why people decide to bleach their hair that horrible shade of pumpkin is beyond me.

That's where things got really scary. For any of you that have dyed your hair, you know it's intimidating putting dye on your head and knowing that you could look like a clown if it doesn't work out. So there I was, painting my head purple thinking I might look like Barney if this didn't come out right. Well....I did come out looking like Barney. I could barely look in the mirror without laughing.

Next morning, Josh rolled over and said "wow. Your hair is really purple!" ha ha ha I actually got to liking it but Im not so sure that my dad likes it. :)

For anyone that is even considering doing something like this, you should do it! Don't make up reasons not to. Why not do it? :)

Here's the photos of the process....

The sink...good thing I had a lot of towels

Ohhh myyy godddd

Not so bad is it? I really like it now :)

Inspiration Station

I've been painting right along and struggling with painters block. Every day I get a bit of inspiration and I try to put it all in to my work...but sometimes it's difficult to make these thoughts materialize on a canvas. I've had a few successes but I cant bring myself to say "alright, they're finished". For the time being they hang on the wall and I think about what to do.

Question to anyone that reads my blog...DOES anyone read my blog? ha ha ha this blog is really for me but sometimes it's nice to know that the blog isn't a TOTAL waste of time. Is there anyone out there that reads this stuff lol :P ??????

I think i'll do a bit of painting tonight while Im thinking of ideas. Stay tuned for the hopefully "finished" pieces!

Updates----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here are a couple of the paintings nearing completion. I've got nine paintings going right now. Some are ready for their next coat of paint while others have been drying for three weeks and still aren't ready. Gotta love oil. I've been having a great time painting in the evenings...sure does help me relax after a long day at work. The completed versions will eventually be posted...but until then, we have to wait for things to dry out :D

Arucaria Silouettes ...this one blinds my eyes while I paint!
